Our sweet baby turned one year old on Saturday. It is hard to believe that he is now considered a toddler! He is fully embracing that title as he is starting to walk more than crawl, sleeping more at night, and entertaining us with his laughter and cute expressions. At different points during this last year he has shown a love for his tongue. There was a renewal of this love on his birthday, and there have not been many moments since that his tongue hasn't been sticking out. This led to a painful injury at KDO today...he fell and bit his tongue, and they said that it bled quite a lot! Poor thing...that is added to when he fell twice this weekend and busted the inside of his mouth...more blood. I don't know if I am going to be able to handle having a boy that is rough and all of the bloodshed that is in the future!
Last weekend started several changes that are occurring in our lives...we are so blessed to celebrate several things and I wanted to share them with you.
#1 Peter was called to be the High School Minister at First Baptist Irving and his first official day was on Sunday. We are so excited, and we know that God has some exciting days of ministry ahead through this position!
#2 Joshua's birthday and party were on Saturday, and we had such a great celebration with family and friends. In honor of his birth day, Cindo de Mayo, we had a fiesta! Pictures to follow...
#3 I started back to work today in the same position I was in at First Baptist Irving before Joshua was born. It was a busy today, so there was not too much time to miss Joshua.
#4 Joshua started all day childcare today. This is a new thing for him, but he had a great day! The best thing is...yes, it involves First Baptist Irving...he is going to be in a room not 100 yards away from my office! I can check on him throughout the day or can go to him if there is a problem. He will be with a few other kids of staff members, so he will have some play buddies. Peter, Joshua, and I will be able to ride together to work everyday and see each other throughout the day...praise God for His plan...I would have never imagined this working out!
#5 Peter is graduating with his Master's Degree in Christian Education from DBU this Thursday. It has been a LONG time coming and he is so glad to be done with it! I am glad for him to be done with it, because I will not hear this statement anymore: "No, we can't do ____ because I have to take a test or write a paper." That statement was a staple on the weekends for the last 4 1/2 years! I am so proud of him for persevering to the end. He has worked so hard to balance family, work, and school, which have all been full-time commitments!
Now for the cute pictures of my birthday boy! There may be more added later as a few friends get pictures they took to me.
Joshua pulled streamers on his pinata...that was supposed to make the bottom drop and all the goodies fall out...there was a malfunction and we had to tear the bottom out! The babies and other kids didn't mind because they still got their treats!
Joshua made a game of pulling Ella's hat off her head.
Joshua wearing his sombrero birthday hat...
The moment I had been waiting for all day...the first touch of the cake! Joshua did not disappoint...see the progression of pictures below.
Joshua is loving all of his new toys. I don't know who was more excited to play with them...our family or Joshua!
Corey and Andy gave him his first John Deere tractor...so cute!
